Ask members of the leadership team to share their DOT (Do One Thing) for the week ahead.
OBJECTIVES
Why is it important to have leaders share their DOT?
Leadership plays a vital role in embedding wellbeing within the workplace, often referred to as setting the ‘tone from the top’
In a palatable way, this is about those in higher up positions showing vulnerability and inviting connection
It shows that leaders are more than just their roles within the workplace and provides insight to their lives
This activity helps to bring wellbeing into daily conversations – embedding it into the workplace
HOW TO GET STARTED
Your 6-week plan
Over a 6-week period, focus on one Pillar per week.
Communicate the intention and request to all relevant leaders (share the ‘what’ and ‘why’)
Set up an internal communications channel, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack, to share ideas, ask questions, and chat about all things wellbeing at [workplace].
Post in the channel with a description of what’s coming up, such as: “We’re kicking off with a refresher of the 6 Pillars over the coming few weeks. Remember, LEAD is all about prioritising your own wellbeing and creating a wellbeing plan that works for you. You’ll remember the concept of ‘DOT’ - which is what we’ll focus on here! So, over the next few weeks, each [Wednesday], we’ll post here about one of the 6 Pillars. Leaders within [workplace] are then going to share ONE thing they do to support that Pillar. We encourage you to also think about your DOT and would love to hear from you, too - comment away!”
Each week, include a snippet from the 6 Pillars poster, a link to the relevant Module, and write an encouraging call-to-action (with the option of tagging Leaders) such as: “This week we’re focusing on the [Celebrate] Pillar. [This is all about noticing good things and treating yourself with kindness. It’s about taking the time to appreciate and celebrate the amazingness that is YOU. What is ONE thing you do to ‘Celebrate’, [Leaders names]?]”
