Encourage people to set and share a DOT (Do One Thing) relevant to the week’s focus Pillar.
A QUICK REFRESHER
DOT – Do One Thing – is a concept introduced in the LEAD module. DOT is about choosing one simple thing that will help you look after your wellbeing.
OBJECTIVES
Inviting people to set a DOT per Pillar is important because it:
Makes the concept feel simple, easy and achievable – and therefore appealing to try
Encourages people to try small, simple things to support themselves
Inspires people to give things a go and adapt as they learn more about what works for them
HOW TO GET STARTED
Your 6-week plan
Over a 6-week period, focus on one Pillar per week.
Set up an internal communications channel, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack, to share ideas, ask questions, and chat about all things wellbeing at [workplace].
Post in the channel with a description of what’s coming up, such as: “We’re kicking off with a refresher of the 6 Pillars over the coming few weeks. Remember, LEAD is all about prioritising your own wellbeing and creating a wellbeing plan that works for you. You’ll remember the concept of ‘DOT’ - which is what we’ll focus on here! So, over the next few weeks, each [Wednesday], we’ll post here about one of the 6 Pillars. We’ll then ask you to share ONE thing you do to support that Pillar. Through this, we encourage you to build or refresh/review your Daily Mental Wellbeing Plan (see the attached worksheet). Looking forward to having more conversations about our wellbeing in the coming weeks! Please get in touch if you have any questions or feedback.”
Each week, include a snippet from the 6 Pillars poster, a link to the relevant Module, and write an encouraging call-to-action such as: “This week we’re focusing on the [Celebrate] Pillar. [This is all about noticing good things and treating yourself with kindness. It’s about taking the time to appreciate and celebrate the amazingness that is YOU. What is ONE thing you do to ‘Celebrate’?]”
