Tips for creating a space (physical or virtual) for people to share and celebrate achievements, big and small.



OBJECTIVES

Why is a Shout Out board helpful?

  • Calling out what’s going well in a workplace can improve connection

  • It’s a great way to show individuals that their efforts are noticed and appreciated

  • Gratitude and appreciation are infectious

  • It aligns nicely with Groov’s Celebrate, Connect, and Enjoy Pillars

  • It may help you improve in the following areas of the Workplace Temperature Check:

    • ‘I feel valued’

    • ‘Successes are celebrated’

    • ‘Taking opportunities for fun is encouraged’

    • ‘Leaders model wellbeing by doing things for their wellbeing during the workday’

    • ‘Employee wellbeing is a priority’

    • ‘My workplace cares about my wellbeing’

HOW TO GET STARTED

Create a Shout Out board in 6 simple steps

  1. Decide on whether it will be a physical or virtual space and how it will be set up

  2. Agree on how and where it will be used

  3. Identify the resources needed to get started, e.g. budget, team leaders

  4. Agree on a communication strategy to promote this space, its importance, and guidelines for use

  5. Give people opportunities to share Shout Outs openly and anonymously

  6. Embed this into weekly or monthly team meetings or other key meetings
