Celebrate You

Wellbeing Challenges

Celebrate, one of our 6 Pillars of Wellbeing, is all about taking time to celebrate and appreciate you. It’s the things you do to notice the positive, to be kind to yourself, and to feel good about yourself. Try one (or more!) of these Groov Wellbeing Challenges to promote the Celebrate Pillar in your workplace this December.

MOVE: Stretch it out

Celebrate movement as a team.

Moving is a great way to celebrate our bodies. Do you have people at your workplace who are passionate about movement, in any form? If anyone comes to mind, it’s worth approaching them to see whether they are willing to lead a movement activity within your workplace. If not, are you willing to do so yourself?

Here are some ideas:

  • A walk around the block

  • Guided stretching for 5 minutes

  • A yoga session

  • A video of a quick Zumba session

If remote working applies, you can always do the above with cameras on! If there are any physical disabilities to consider among your people, be sure to choose a movement which is inclusive.

CHILL: Breathe and just be

Encourage people to take microbreaks to breathe and just be. Deep breathing is a fantastic way to show self-kindness to both body and mind. It also helps to reduce the amount of time we spend in fight or flight (our stress response).

Dedicate time for your people to reflect on what they have achieved today, this week or this month, and why that’s an achievement.

3 wellbeing rituals to see out 2022

The 6 Pillars of Wellbeing: Celebrate

CONNECT: Encourage people to share their Celebrate practises

Put up a board with post-it notes (physical) or write a post on your internal channel (virtual) for people to add what they do for the Celebrate Pillar. You could also ask people to add their names to their notes if they feel comfortable.

They could also vote for the activities they:

  • Do themselves (to see which ones are most popular among your people)

  • Like the most (to inspire action)

  • Are keen to understand more about (to promote connection)

ENJOY: Promote Groov’s guide to guilt-free self-care

One of the biggest barriers to people celebrating themselves and making time for self-care is a sense of guilt. Many people find it easier to put others first. Groov is here to help! Promote our article, Your guide to guilt-free self-care, to remind your people why self-care is selfless.

CELEBRATE: Secret Santa with a twist

Secret Santa – but instead of gift giving, ask people to write down why that person is worthy of celebrating! We recommend doing so on a physical or virtual board, posting the person’s name and why they are to be celebrated.

The explainer can include something like: If you don’t work closely with this person, or don’t know them well, then this is an opportunity to get to know them a little better. You might find that after one small interaction, you have something to appreciate them for! You’re also invited to communicate with those who do interact with this person to hear their perspective. For example, you might get the sense that they are considerate of contrary opinions and stay calm in team meetings.

DO: Ask people what new skills they’d like to develop

One of the cornerstones of the Do Pillar is learning new things – it helps keep our brains healthy and thriving. Ask people, either via a virtual channel or in a meeting, what new skills they’d like to develop in 2023. These skills could be work-related or hobby-related. The idea is to spark an inspiring conversation that reminds people of the importance of the Do Pillar, as well as giving them an opportunity to have more things to celebrate about themselves.
